Birthday Card & Gift Bag

I must say a special thank you to all my visitors!  I love reading all the comments.  They do make me feel good.   I have finally gotten to all the blogs on the "We pledge to leave comments" thread on the Cricut Forum.  Now to start at the top again.  This has been so much fun.

My husband's birthday was on the 7th but he is working out of town until Tuesday.   At least this gave me time to get his card made and a bag to put his gift in.  Of course, he told us not to get him anything but how could we not?  Our remote for the TV has a worn out on/off button and you know that would never do for a man!!!  My daughter and her husband went out and bought a new remote.  This is a do everything kind of remote.  It handles all the components and even tells you how to do something if you don't know how.  My son-in-law had to program it with a computer!!  Anyway my husband's gift will benefit us all.  It was a need to buy kind of thing.

I made the card using the Wrap It Up cartridge.  I cut the car at 3 inches high and 5 inches wide ( if that makes sense).  I made all the layers using my Gypsy to size.  I cut the base out once at 5 1/2 by 8 1/4 and again at 5  by 7 3/4 .  The second base was cut in half and used to layer.  I then made another layer in blue and embossed it with the birthday embossing folder.  I added embossing to the layers of the cards using the swiss dots folder, added glossy accents to the tires, and some of the other layers to make them stand out better.  It's not easy making a card for a man without flowers and such.  I added a tag embossed with Happy Birthday, a few brads and a little string for a bow.  (I couldn't resist a bow).   I cut some plain cardstock and a piece of printed cardstock to layer inside and used a rub on for the message.  I inked all the edges, put it together and it was done.  I am quite pleased with the result.  I have a cut file if you want it, let me know and I can email it to you.

The bag was made using the Tags, Bags, Boxes and More Cartridge.  I made the bag as large as I could on a 12 X 24 mat.  It turned out to be just the right size thanks to my Gypsy.    I cut it out with white card stock, then used Weathered Wood Distressed Ink, pretty well inked the whole bag.  I then put on several birthday, hello, hi stamps on an acrylic block and stamped all over the bag.  Threaded  a ribbon through the holes, tied a bow and the bag was complete.  Hope you like it.

Finally!

I finally got time to take pictures of all I have been doing lately.  First are the cards I mentioned last time where I got away from the sketch idea.  They still turned out ok I think.

                                                                 Birthday Card

                                                                 Thank you card

Next I worked on some vinyl wall art for my soon to be born granddaughter. I had forgotten how much fun it is to use this stuff. The cuts are all from Stork's Delivery.  I cut them as large as I could without making them look too big next to each other.  You know, a giraffe is larger than the turtle and taller than the lion.  My daughter got into the act and actually applied about half of these on the walls.  I think she was pleased with the outcome.

These are over the window and much smaller than the rest.
Right wall as you come in.

                                            Close up of lion.

Ok!  a little off angle!  I need lessons!

                                           I actually love this giraffe!
There is also a pink monkey I did but for some reason, it doesn't seem to be on my camera anymore.  It was one of my favorites!  I really need to get a new camera and maybe even take some picture taking lessons too!  Sorry the pictures aren't the best!  They do look a lot brighter and better in person.  lol.  oh well.  Leave me a comment! Thanks for looking! Should have more to post next week.  Back to work this week, spring break is over. :(

Busy Weekend!

This weekend was the weekend my daughter moved into her new home.  I had my grandson for a sleepover, then in the morning we went to his class which included arts & crafts, gym time and swimming.  We then went to the new house.  I had stayed up late the night before to make a special card for my daughter and her husband.  Here is a picture of the card.
Then  I decided to join in an online swarm on the Cricut Circle Forum this weekend.  There were four challenges to complete.  I managed to complete two plus a calling card.  One of my projects actually included the criteria for more than one of the challenges.  The only one I didn't complete in time was the last challenge which was to include a frame.  The first challenge was a sketch challenge.  I completed a card for this one.  Before I got this done, though, I got distracted and ended up making two other cards as well.  I will post these ones later as I haven't taken pictures of them yet.  The second challenge was a note card gift set.  This was really easy and I think it turned out pretty nice.  Have a look and let me know what you think!  The swarm was a lot of fun and very inspirational. Hopefully I will get the rest of the pictures posted tomorrow or Friday.

                                                      Note Card Gift Set Challenge

Calling Card (also color challenge & wet challenge)
Needless to say, now I am pooped!  But it feels good to have accomplished a lot in a short time!

New Creative Memories Cartridge

I just ordered the new Cricut cartridge exclusive to Creative Memories, Stork's Delivery.  I also bought the Baby Girl Celebration Collection.   I can hardly wait for them to arrive.  Then I'll get busy!   I plan on doing a scrapbook for my new little granddaughter who will be born at the end of April.  I thought I would do the pages and then her mom could add the pictures and journal as the pictures are taken.  Might be easier this way. I am still working on my grandson's album but find it hard to find the time lately.  I am adding the pictures and of course then after choosing, I am sizing and cropping then doing the page.  A much longer process.  Once I get him caught up I will prepare the pages and give it to my daughter to add journaling and pictures.  Right now I am working on more work tasks for our little ones at school.  I have cut out flowers, which we will add their target speech words to.  I cut out bumblebees which will be attached to popscicle sticks.  The children will get a bee and have to search out their words which will be taped or velcroed to walls, etc around the classroom.  I'll post pictures later once they are laminated and ready to go.

Thanks!

Hi Diana!  Thank you for your kind comments!  I just used brads to attach the vellum.  I am waiting for my Creative Memories order.  I ordered some vellum tabs so next time will probably try them as well.  I really like the looks of the brads so probably will still add something like them as well.

Thanks also to Lisa for following me!  I am coming over to see your blog as soon as I can.

Wow!  I have six followers now!  This is getting to be fun!

Sympathy Card

I think one of the hardest things to make is a Sympathy Card. I went online and found ideas. Everything I used to make the card was cut out with my Cricut. It took quite a bit of scrap paper to get the words to be placed exactly where I wanted them. I got the idea of using the velum from a blog I visited. I can't remember which one, I visited so many to find just the right one. After finding this idea, the rest just came together. I embossed a cuttlebug flower in the corner of the envelope as well as the inside of the card then used a little smooch to shine it up,  and make it stand out even more and finished with a few jewels with my irock I am quite happy with the result and have saved the file on my Gypsy. If you are interested in the file, let me know, and I'll give better directions as well as the cartridges used.  Hope you like it. Leave a comment! Thanks

More Nursery Rhymes

Well I finally finished Jack and Jill as well as humpty dumpty. I wasn't that happy with my dish and the spoon so redid them. I am much happier with them now.

Tomorrow I will laminate and they go up in the classroom. Here are the pictures. Hope you like them. Let me know, leave a comment!

A New Look!

Thanks to some great advice I have revamped my blog. I think it is less cluttered and actually I like it better. The funny thing is that the background I have now is the one that I had originally started with. Funny how you can get carried away with changing things until you don't know where you started. lol Anyway let me know if I should change anything else to make it more readable. I'll be back to add more pictures hopefully this week of the other Nursery Rhymes I'm working on.

A Busy Month

Wow! What a busy month this has been! At school we have a Nursery Rhyme theme and of course that means using my Cricut to make classroom decorations and visuals for our little ones. Here are a few of my new works of art thanks to Cricut!

I cut each item out the number of times to match the number of colors needed as this cartridge doesn't have the layers that I wanted. I cut each figure to a height of twelve inches. I made a gypsy cut file if anyone is interested in having it, leave a comment with your email and I will send it to you.
Next to come is Humpty Dumpty and Jack and Jill. Hope to get these done and posted early this week.

Large space problems

Tonight I finally figured out how to remove this huge empty space between my Blog description and the posts. Now all I have to figure out is how to change the color of that one patch of font that isn't the same color of the rest! Hope it doesn't take as long as I have other things to do such as finishing the rest of my Valentine's Day cards which are now cut and just need to be assembled. The one thing I did tonight also was visit an awesome website, Cricut Your Classroom. Lots of fabulous ideas for classroom as well as some awesome cards. Check it out!

Weekly Challenge #18

Well, I have had a very busy week. I have also been sick so didn't get on here to update at all this week. The Cricut Blog Weekly Challenge #18 is to make something with the cartridge(s) that came with your Expression, Create, Imagine or Gypsy. I decided to make this card using the cartridges, Accent Essentials, Pink Journey, and Plantin Schoolbook which came with my Expression. The card base and second layer on front is cut from Plantin School Book, the first layer on front is a mat cut by hand in black. The little frame inside is cut from Accent Essentials and the scalloped ovals are from Pink Journey. Paper is by SEI, card expression is a rub on from MS. I added some jewels and stickles to make the card sparkle. The black mat is the only cut not made by my Expression. Thanks for looking.

What a day!

I can not believe the weather and amount of snow we have been getting here! It took me close to an hour to get to work this morning when it usually takes me about ten minutes. Needless to say other than rearranging my blog, I got nothing creative created today. Hopefully tomorrow will be much better!!

Wow!

I just got my Welcome package from the Cricut Circle! It actually took one month less a day to get here! I am so excited to get it! Now I have another new cartridge to play with. Guess what I'll be doing tomorrow night!

This is still a work in progress

Okay now that I got the little Cricut Bug here, how do I move it out of postings and place it somewhere else? Like in the sidebar. Any help would be appreciated. No time to create tonight because I needed to work on this page so that I can just spend time posting and such. Hopefully tomorrow I will be finished with this part and can enjoy the blog experience!

Sweet Baby Girl Card

I was busy this weekend with the Pink Stamper Blog Hop Challenge!  It did inspire me to make another card.  I have two baby girls being born this spring.  One will be my granddaughter and the other is a family friend's daughter.  I decided I needed to start making the cards now rather than later.  Here's a picture of the first one.
I saw a card designed by Sherry Wright in a magazine and thought it was fairly easy and quick.  Other than the color for the carriage and adding "Sweet " and "Girl" the card looks the same to me.  I used my gypsy to prepare the cut using Storybook and Stretch your Imagination.  I can't remember which cartridge I used for the "Sweet" and "Girl".  I welded the words and cut out blackouts using the hide feature on the gypsy.  Paper was from the Anna Griffin Isobelle Collection, Bazil and K & Company Specialty Paper. Ribbon, pearls and glitter glue came from my stash.  Every cut is from cricut including the card base.  I stamped "Congratulations! inside.  I plan on making a gift bag or box to match.  I will post that when I am done them.  Thanks for looking!

The Pink Stamper Blog Hop Challenge

I wanted to share a picture of a card I did for the Pink Stanper Blog Hop Challenge.  The challenge was to make a card, scrapbook page or something fun with My Pink Stamper Stamps or the color pink.  As I don't as yet have any My Pink Stamper Stamps, I chose to go with a card using pink.
This card was inspired from a card I saw designed by Kandis Smith.  I made a few changes to reflect my tastes but overall it is very similar.  I used paper from the Anna Griffin Isabelle Collection, Bazill and K & Company Speciality Paper.  I used the Wedding Cartridge to cut out the hearts (both the scalloped and the scrolled).  The flowers were cut from the Doodlecharms cartridge (I think, I need to write these things down when I do them)  I added Glossy Accents to the flowers and a small pearl to finish them off.  I also added pearls to the scrolled heart to add interest.  The ribbon came from my stash and probably was bought from Michael's.  I made a cut file for my gypsy and cut out with my Expression.  Thanks for looking.
